Artwork Guides

All files for printing should be print ready, if they are not you may incur an extra artwork charge.

Paper Sizes

Paper is normally specified as an ‘A’ or ‘B’ size, envelopes as a ‘C’ size.
Your standard A4 page is 210mm wide by 297mm tall. A3 is twice as big as A4, A5 is half the size of A4, and so on.
More detailed information on paper size is available.

Print ready artwork

Is a .pdf file
Is in CMYK
Has a 3mm bleed
Is at least 300dpi

PDF File

We prefer Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Files (.pdf) , with fully embedded fonts.
However other common files we can work with include Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bitmap or Vector – and many more  – .psd, .ai, .eps, .jpg or .tiff, .gif, .png
All artwork will usually be converted to a CMYK PDF/X compliant .pdf before printing.

CMYK

Artwork should be supplied as Full Colour, Cyan Magenta Yellow and Blac(K) files, rather than RGB as colour differences can occur when converting from screen to print colours. (K is used for Black as B might be Blue, or Brown, or even Burgundy!)

Bleed

Your artwork should have an extra border around the edge, your design may “bleed off” into this area if it is intended to print right up-to the edge of the cut final sized page.
More detailed information on bleed is available.

300dpi

Computer Screen images are usually 72 or 96 Dots Per Inch, when these are printed they tend to be very small, or “pixelated”, for print images a much higher detail, or resolution, image is required, usually 300 Dots Per Inch (dpi) or even higher.
